Abstract:

?ANi/Allayereddoublehydroxide(LDH)nanoparticlemodifiedcarbonceramicelectrode(Ni/AlLDH/NMCC)wasfabricatedandusedfortheelectrocatalyticoxidationofmethanolandethanolinalkalinemedia.Cyclicvoltammetric(CV)studiesshowedthatitgaveasignificantlyhigheractivityformethanolandethanoloxidationandcanbeusedasanelectrocatalyticanodeforfuelcells.Thekineticparametersoftheelectrontransfercoefficient(α)andnumberofelectronsinvolvedintheratedeterminingstep(nα)fortheoxidationofmethanolandethanolweredeterminedusingCV.Theanodiccurrentsshowedalineardependenceontheconcentrationofmethanolandethanol.
