Abstract:

?AhydrotreatingNiMo/γ-Al2O3catalyst(12wt%Moand1.1wt%Ni)waspreparedbyimpregnationofthesupportwiththeAnderson-typeheteropolyoxomolybdate(NH4)4Ni(OH)6Mo6O18.Beforeimpregnationofthesupport,itwasmodifiedwithanaqueoussolutionofH3BO3,Co(NO3)2,orNi(NO3)2.ThecatalystswereinvestigatedusingN2adsorption,O2chemisorption,X-raydiffraction,UV-Visspectroscopy,Fouriertransforminfraredspectroscopy,temperature-programmedreduction,temperature-programmeddesorption,andX-rayphotoelectronspectroscopy.TheadditionofCo,Ni,orBinfluencedtheAl2O3phasecompositionandgaveincreasedcatalyticactivityfor1-benzothiophenehydrodesulfurization(HDS).X-rayphotoelectronspectroscopyconfirmedthatthepriorloadingofNi,CoorBincreasedthedegreeofsulfidationoftheNiMo/γ-Al2O3catalysts.ThehighestHDSactivitywasobservedwiththeNiMo/γ-Al2O3catalystwithpriorloadedNi.
