Topologyoptimizationofmaterialmicrostructuresusingstrainenergy-basedpredictionofeffectiveelasticpropertiesDOI: 10.6052/0459-1879-2007-1-2006-086, PP. 77-89 Keywords: Cellular,solids,Material,design,Homogenization,method,Strain,energy,Topology,optimization Abstract: Analternativestrainenergymethodisproposedforthepredictionofeffectiveelasticpropertiesoforthotropicmaterialsinthispaper.Themethodisimplementedinthetopologyoptimizationproceduretodesigncellularsolids.Acomparativestudyismadebetweenthestrainenergymethodandthewell-knownhomogenizationmethod.Numericalresultsshowthatbothmethodsagreewellinthenumericalpredictionandsensitivityanalysisofeffectiveelastictensorwhenhomogeneousboundaryconditionsareproperlyspecified.Twodimensionaland3dimensionalmicrostructuresareoptimizedformaximumstiffnessdesignsbycombiningtheproposedmethodwiththedualoptimizationalgorithmofconvexprogramming.Satisfactoryresultsareobtainedforavarietyofdesigncases.
