Thenumberofsomaticembryosandregeneratedplantletsweredirectlyinducedfromirra-diatedricerootsofthevarietyTaipei309(OryzasativaL.).Fortheinductionofsomaticem-bryos,thesuitableageofrootswasnomorethan7daysafterseedcultureonthemediumandthesectionsneartipweremorevigorousthanthosenearbaseofaroot;thenumberofsomaticem-bryosinducedbythemediawith1.11mg/L2,4-Dplus0.47mg/LNAAand2.21mg/L2,4-Dplus1.86mg/LNAAwasmuchhigherthanthatinducedby1.11mg/L2,4-Dalone;10～20Gyand40Gyofγirradiationwerethemostfavourableforincreasingsomaticembryonumberonthemediaof2.21mg/L2,4-Dplus1.86mg/LNAAand1.11mg/L2,4-Dplus0.47mg/LNAAor1.11mg/L2,4-Dalonerespectively.Thehighestnumberofregeneratedplantletswasfromthatculturedonthemediumof1.11mg/L2,4-Dplus0.47mg/LNAAandirradiatedwith30～40Gyofγrays.
