The Lajeado HR is the fourth hydroelectric powerplant constructed in the rio Tocantins. Theimplementation of hydroelectric plants in the rioTocantins basin is of high environmental concernbecause they may result in severe damage to theichthyofauna. A species list of the area ofinfluence of the Lajeado HR is provided, in thehope that it will contribute to the knowledge ofthis potentially threatened ichthyofauna. A fewcomments on the ichthyofauna of the rioTocantins drainage are also provided.
