O carisma social das primeiras pastoras metodistas do Brasil

This article analyses women’s ministry in the Methodist Church with its specific characteristics. Major emphasis is given to the case of Methodist women pastors in Brazil who acquired the right to ordination early in the 1970s and began to develop their pastoral activity with more involvement in social issues from the viewpoint of new Latin American theological and pastoral tendencies. The present Brazilian social situation, the progressive ideas of the organized social movements and the ecumenical movement also influenced the start of pastoral action by women’s ordained ministry in the Methodist Church.
