THE RELATION BETWEEN ART. 6 OF THE EUROPEAN CONVENTION ON HUMAN RIGHTS AND ART. 1 OF PROTOCOL NO. 1 TO THE CONVENTIONKeywords: European Convention on Human Rights , Article 6 of the Convention , The First Protocol to the European Convention on Human Rights , Article 1 of the First Protocol Abstract: Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights (1950) (ECHR) guarantees the right to a fair and public hearing, within a reasonable time, by an independent and impartial tribunal established by law, in the determination of an individual’s civil rights and obligations or of any criminal charge against him (or her). The European Court of Human Rights (EctHR), located in Strasbourg, decides on the application of Article 6 in the domestic jurisdictions of each Council of Europe Member State. Article 1 of the First Protocol to the European Convention on Human Rights states that every person is entitled to peaceful enjoyment of his possessions. No one shall be deprived of his possessions except in the public interest and subject to the conditions provided for by law and by the general principles of international law.
