ABSTRACT: The culminating scene of Manuel Tamayo y Baus's "Un drama nuevo" has been interpreted as a merger of life and theatre, provided that three actors (Yorick, Alicia and Edmundo) get confused with three prominent figures (Count Octavio, Beatriz, Manfredo). The article examines of that way comes near up to this situation, the need that exists for it of which Yorick leaves his facet of comical actor and the reasons that Edmundo and Alicia has to help in scene the change of theatre to life that Yorick imposes. For these aspects he becomes the parallel one between "Un drama nuevo", the opera "I Pagliacci" and the Alfred Hitchcok's movie "39 steps". RESUMEN: La escena culminante de La escena culminante de "Un drama nuevo" de Manuel Tamayo y Baus se ha interpretado como fusión de vida y teatro, dado que los tres actores (Yorick, Alicia y Edmundo) se confunden con los tres personajes (Conde Octavio, Beatriz, Manfredo). El artículo examina de que manera se llega hasta esa situación, la necesidad que hay para ello de que Yorick abandone su faceta de actor cómico y las razones que tiene Edmundo y Alicia para secundar en escena el cambio de teatro a vida que impone Yorick. Para estos aspectos se hace un paralelo entre "Un drama nuevo", la opera 2I Pagliacci" y la película "39 escalones" de Alfred Hitchcok.
