MARACAY, Zona industrial San Miguel, segunda mitad del siglo XX.

This article attempts a historical reconstruction of the creation of the industrial zone of San Miguel in Maracay, Aragua state, during the decade of the fifties of the twentieth century. It is showed the modernizing impulses of the City of Maracay, within the policy of import substitution that had begun in the country after the Second World War. The planning of the industrial area was done by private construction through contracts signed with the Municipality, which in turn promoted campaigns to attract national and foreign direct investment (FDI), offering various productive incentives such as exemption taxes and land at low prices. With the growth of industry there was an increase in the population and growth of the city. This work is part of local history and aims to contribute to the knowledge of the city, especially in industrial areas. To conduct this research were used documentary sources obtained in the following files: Girardot City Council, Junior Record of the First Circuit of the Municipality Girardot and First Mercantile Registry of Aragua State. Memoirs of the Ministry of Development and the Corporacion Venezolana de Fomento were revised, for the years 1946-1956. Also were conducted field work in industrial areas and adjacent neighborhoods. Finally, criticism and explanation were based on the historical method.
