Brazilian Journalof Biomotricity, v. 2, n. 2, p. 109-121, 2008.The present study it had as objective tomake a descriptive analysis of the anthropometric, physical and technical performancecharacteristics of female basketball Brazilian team participant of Olympics GamesAthens 2004, which was composed of 12 athletes with mean age of 26.9 ± 4.1 years.For treatment of the data appealed the procedures of the descriptive statistics. Thevariable studied and the values found had been: anthropometric - height = 182.6 ± 9.6cm, body mass (BM = 77.6 ± 12.7 kg), index of body mass (IBM = 23.7 ± 2.5 kg/m2),relative body fat (%G = 22.0 ± 5.0 %), lean body mass (LBM = 60.0 ± 7.1 kg) and leanfat mass (LFM = 17.5 ± 6.5 kg); performance - maximum oxygen uptake (VO2max =46.9 ± 3.3 ml.kg.min-1), anaerobic resistance (AR = 10.3 ± 1.6 w.kg-1), anaerobic power(AP = 48.4 ± 7.0 cm) of lower-body, muscular force of upper- body (FUB = 57.2 ± 7.2kg) and lower-body (FLB = 68.8 ± 5.9 kg); performance technical - game time = 133.7 ±24.3 min., points = 52.8 ± 13.7, reboots = 23.8 ± 5.3, errors = 9.3 ± 1.5 e recoupedballs = 5.9 ± 1.5. The results found in the present study corroborate with that has beentold it to in the literature. One expects that these results can contribute in the planningand periodization of the training, as well in the detention of young talents for themodality.
