Prepubescents and pubescents overweight postural characterization. Brazilian Journal of Biomotricity, v. 4, n. 2, p. 104-114, 2010. The study aimed to characterize and quantify biomechanical responses of obesity in pre-adolescents and adolescents. Thirty-five overweight individuals aged between 10-15 years, both genders, were evaluated. The whole procedure was based on the Software of Postural Assessment - SAPo protocol. The descriptive statistical analysis was used. The most evident postural alterations were: calcaneus valgus, hyper-extension and knee valgus, pelvic anteroversion and head protraction. The projection of the gravity center was forwarded in 30.17% of the subjects. Obesity could be related to postural imbalance in overweight at this population. The displacement of the gravity center could lead to compensatory postures to redistribute the body weight.
