Editorial VorwortAbstract: Dear ReaderAfter 34 volumes of Zeitschrift für Bev lkerungswissenschaft – Demographie, the journal will continue under its new name Comparative Population Studies – Zeitschrift für Bev lkerungswissenschaft (CPoS), in a substantially altered form. CPoS will maintain its mission as a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary scientific journal on demography and population studies. Yet, from 2010 it appears online on an open access basis, and all articles are published in English and German. The journal appears four times a year. On average, two special issues per year are expected to be coordinated by guest editors. Exclusively unpublished peer-reviewed research papers in demography and related fields are published. The papers cover a wide range of topics on demography, as well as on population or family studies with a focus on empirical research, theory, and methods. The journal features articles with a spatial or comparative perspective on regional issues emphasising the German-speaking countries and Europe or on population issues on a global scale. The editorial policy is guided by a scientific advisory board. We are glad to be able to rely on the expertise and experience of Jürgen Dorbritz (Wiesbaden), Paul Gans (Mannheim), Johannes Huinink (Bremen), Dirk J. van de Kaa (Den Haag), Marc Luy (Wien), Notburga Ott (Bochum), Peter Preisend rfer (Mainz). All submissions will undergo a double blind review process by two independent reviewers. The review process is supported by a board of reviewers. The journal is thankful for the collaboration of a number of distinct scientists: Martin Abraham (Erlangen), Laura Bernardi (Lausanne), Hansj rg Bucher (Bonn), Claudia Diehl (G ttingen), Andreas Diekmann (Zürich), Gabriele Doblhammer-Reiter (Rostock), Henriette Engelhardt- W lfl er (Bamberg), E.-Jürgen Fl thmann (Bielefeld), Alexia Fürnkranz-Prskawetz (Wien), Beat Fux (Zürich), Joshua Goldstein (Rostock), Karsten Hank (Mannheim), Sonja Haug (Regensburg), Franz-Josef Kemper (Berlin), Hans-Peter Kohler (Philadelphia), Michaela Kreyenfeld (Rostock), Aart C. Liefbroer (Den Haag), Kurt Lüscher (Konstanz), Dimiter Philipov (Wien), Thomá Sobotka (Wien), Heike Trappe (Rostock). Accepted papers will be published online immediately. The translation service provided by the journal allows bilingual publication. The authors will be granted permission to re-distribute or re-print their articles or parts of it. CPoS endeavours to attain widest distribution and acceptance in scientific circles and in the political arena. The journal content is indexed; articles are identified by doi and ur
