Uso de reator air-lift em batelada para tratamento de efluentes de uma indústria de beneficiamento de coco

Abstract:

This paper aimed to characterize the effluent (grease and oil content (TOG) turbidity, and pH, construct an air-lift reactor for use in wastewater treatment coconut industry, operating under batch, using the decantation process with aluminum sulfate, and also evaluate the equipment efficiency. Conditioning and performance evaluation of a batch air-lift reactor in two treatment periods (0.5 h and 1 h) were conducted. A reduction in the level of TOG to 0.035 g/L, and pH to 5.17 for different process times without the addition of aluminum sulfate, in accordance with Resolution 357/05 of the CONAMA (Conselho Nacional do Meio Ambiente) were observed. It was verified that this effect did not occur in relation to turbidity, despite the significant reduction to 34 NTU with the addition of aluminum sulfate. Nevertheless, the air-lift reactor proved to be a good option for treatment of wastewater of this nature with low operating costs.
