The intercultural dialogue of the fourth decade of the 20th century reveals the most important impulses of the national identity. However, this phenomenon combines different experiences and remains contradictory. The meaning centre of descriptive considerations has shifted from linguistic to cultural issues. Therefore, periodical publications – as a dialogic and at the same time politically engaged critical text – is of particular importance within the context of the cultural studies of the fourth decade of the 20th century. The object of the study is to reveal the premises of intercultural communication as an urgent problem as well as remind of the peculiarities of linguistic differentiation. The aim of the research is to analyse the especially different context of Lithuanian–Polish intercultural cooperation, taking into account different conceptions of the cited authors and spotlighting the most characteristic features of national and linguistic identity. One conclusion becomes apparent while summing up all of the facts, i.e. the intercultural dialogue is possible because of the integral processes, taking place within the nation. The synthesis of different cultures determines frankness of the intercultural dialogue. Taking into account theory on cultural synthesis by alkauskis, it could be affirmed that co-ordination of different cultures has influence on the consolidation of the nation and leads towards modernization of the social tradition. The article deals with the issue of linguistic and cultural junction spreading beyond Polish and Lithuanian cultural traditions. One of the main peculiarities of the multicultural attitude is the universal understanding of the Lithuanian–Polish culture.
