Care to the population: urban bus in the city of S o Paulo [paper in Portuguese]

This paper analyzes the bus transportation mode in the city of S o Paulo based on data from the 2007 Origin and Destination Research(OD 2007), which allowed us to obtain the following information: 1) between 3 and 9% of the total trips in urban bus in the city of S o Paulo have origin or destination outside the city, what is very surprising, since these buses should not serve these sites; 2) South and northwest regions stood out as generators of bus rides and also had a significant increase in the number of auto trips to the expanded downtown area, possibly indicating some weakness in the public transportation system. The comparison of data from the 2007 OD with data bus lines (fleet, frequency, etc.) managed by S o Paulo Transportes - SPTrans also allowed us to construct indexes of service to the population and identify trip vectors (origin/destination pairs) with likely problems of care.
