Nuevos datos sobre la presencia de Ajuga pyramidalis (Lamiaceae) en la Comunidad Valenciana [New data on the presence of Ajuga pyramidalis L. (Lamiaceae) in Valencia area]

ABSTRACT: New data on the presence of Ajuga pyramidalis L. (Lamiaceae) in Valencia area. The fine analysis of cultivated plants of Valencian Ajuga pyramidalis L. (Lamiaceae), obtained from seeds collected in the population of Penyagolosa Mts. (Vistabella del Maestrat, Castellón) reveals that those plants really belong to the subsp. meonantha (Hoffmanns. & Link) R. Fern., instead of the subspecies type as formerly considered. Maybe as a result of their cultivation out of their original area, those plants show a rhizomatous growth never recorded before for this species. RESUMEN: El estudio exhaustivo de ejemplares cultivados de Ajuga pyramidalis L. (Lamiaceae) a partir de semillas recolectadas en el macizo de Penyagolosa (Vistabella del Maestrat, Castellón) ha revelado que estas plantas pertenecen realmente a la subsp. meonantha (Hoffmanns. & Link) R. Fern. y no a la subespecie tipo como hasta la fecha se había considerado. Como probable consecuencia del cultivo fuera de su área original, las plantas de esta subespecie muestran crecimiento vegetativo rizomatoso, no registrado previamente en la especie.
