PREVALêNCIA DE SEDENTARISMO, OBESIDADE E RISCO DE DOEN AS CARDIOVASCULARES EM FREQUENTADORES DO CEAFIR.DOI: 10.5747/cv.2011.v03.n1.v043 Keywords: Prevention e control , Sedentary lifestyle , Obesity Abstract: Obesity and sedentarism are important risk factors for the developing cardiovascular disease and the physical activity is essential to prevent these. To understand how these risk factors are present and to alow the best prevention approach, this study aims to analyse the prevalence of sedentarism (through the international physical activity questionnaire), obesity (by the body mass index - BMI) and risk profile (through the waist-hip ratio WHR) in 74 users of Attendence and Studies Center in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation. The results showed 35.12% of the population classified as irregularly active and sedentary, 67.56% classified as overweight and obesity and 56, 54% considered above the cutoff to WHR, that sets the highest risk for cardiovascular disease. Thus, the high prevalence of overweight and obesity as well as individuals classified as irregularly active and sedentary, demonstrates the importance of prevention programs that aimed at preventing health complications.
