Overview of American Studies in Portugal

The practice of American Studies in Portugal evolved out of a philological tradition that might be seen in all of the courses taught at the five public Universities (Lisbon – Classic and New, Oporto, Coimbra, and Aveiro) and at the semi-private Catholic University until the Revolution of 1974.
