Demographic Predictors of Organization Citizenship Behavior of Junior Staff of UniversitiesAbstract: This study investigated demographic predictors of organization citizenship behavior of junior staff of universities. A total of 200 participants (drawn from two universities in southwestern Nigeria) participated in the study, their ages ranged between 20-65yrs with a mean age of 33.24 and a standard deviation of 8.466. Gender distribution revealed 99 males (49.5%); 101 females (50.5%). 85 (42.5%) were singles, 112 (56%) were married and 3 (1.5%) were separated from their spouses. Distribution based on educational qualification shows that 24(12%) had O’level, 13(6.5%) had NCE, 24(12%) had OND and Diploma, 26(13%) had HND, 107 (53.5%) had BSc while 6(3.0%) had Master’s degree. Categorization according to religious affiliation indicated that 157(78.5%) of the participants were Christians; 37 (18.5%) Muslims, and a total of 6 (3.0%) belonging to the traditional religion. Validated scales were used for data collection and sampling was multi-staged. Result of analysis showed that age and marital status significantly predicted OCB, while gender was not a significant predictor. It is therefore concluded that age and marital status of employee must be considered during recruitment.
