Distribution and Use of Proficiency of Playgrounds: A Case Study TekirdaKeywords: Playgrounds , play , open-green areas , Tekirdag Abstract: The constitute an important part of playgrounds, urban locations, open green areas. At this work, the playgrounds in the city centre are determined in suburb scale and their sizes are calculated. The playground area per child is determined on suburb scale and city scale by proportioning it with the number of kids at the ages 0-14 in the suburbs. On suburb scale; it is seen that in only 3 of 15 suburbs this was more than 1m2, in 9 less than 1m2 and that in 3 were no playgrounds. And on city scale; the playground per child is determined as 0.556 m2/person. It is determined that this ratio is much below the values 3–6.5 m2/ person and that the number of the playgrounds are insufficient. And by the realized survey, it is also determined that the users deem the existing playgrounds as insufficient (design, personnel etc.) and unsafe.
