Dimens es do governo subalterno da ilha de Santa Catarina (1738-1821) = Dimensions of the subordinate government of Santa Catarina Island (1738-1821)

O objetivo deste artigo é compreender a forma o da unidade colonial da Ilha de Santa Catarina (depois expandida ao continente), de 1738, ano em que se criou nela um governo subordinado à capitania do Rio de Janeiro, até 1821, quando se tornou província independente. Com base na análise do vocabulário político utilizado pelas autoridades na documenta o contemporanea, procurou-se identificar qual o estatuto jurídico e as dimens es desse estabelecimento para os diferentes agentes coloniais. The aim of this article is to understand the formation of the unit of the colonial island of Santa Catarina (later expanded to the mainland) in 1738, the year in which a government subordinate to de captaincy of Rio de Janeiro, was created in it, until 1821, when it became an independent province. Based on the analysis of the political vocabulary used by the authorities on the contemporary documentation, it was tried to identify the legal status and size of that establishment for the various colonial agent.
