The result of a lengthy and methodic theoretical and empirical work on religion, the author analyzes the popular ethic as a form of outward appearance ritual. He describes its relation to the official ethic, the historic-social conditionings which for it, as well as the meanings and changes the autonomy of the popular ethic stamp upon social life.
