AUTOMOTIVE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM DESIGN BASED ON RELIABILITY PARAMETERS

Failure of any component or product or system before its time period is alwaysunacceptable and hence in the engineering design the safety and reliability of any system isinvariably the principal technical objective. The level of design, control and manufacturing ofautomobiles transmission system has always been critical in terms of reliability and safety. Thispaper describes the work done by the Author(s) for the reliability based design of automobilestransmission system based on its failure criteria at subsystem and system level in order toimprove the reliability of whole transmission system and henceforth the safety and it has alsoshown with the results that while designing such system based on reliability parameters, thereliability has always improved with the improved factor of safety values.
