Primer registro de Ceramium cingulatum Weber-Van Bosse (Ceramiaceae, Rhodophyta) para el océano Atlántico Occidental

La presencia del alga roja Ceramium cingulatum es mencionada por primera vez para el Océano Atlántico Occidental, asociada con Gelidium serrulatum. C. cingulatum se caracteriza por su talo cilíndrico y dorsiventral, ausencia de ramificación y tetrasporangios emergentes en verticilos. Los especímenes se colectaron en la zona intermareal de Puerto Cruz, estado Vargas y Los Coquitos, estado Aragua, Venezuela. Se presenta una descripción de la especie con datos morfológicos y reproductivos, distribución geográfica de hábitat. The occurrence of the red alga Ceramium cingulatum associated with Gelidium serrulatum, in the Western Atlantic Ocean, is reported for the first time. C. cingulatum is characterized by thallus rod-shaped, creeping and erect habit, branching absent, tetrasporangia protruding and verticillate. The specimens were collected in the intertidal zone of Puerto Cruz, Vargas State and Los Coquitos, Aragua State, Venezuela. A description of the species is presented with morphological and reproductive data, habitat and geographical distribution.
