New Laboratory Techniques in Reproductive MedicineKeywords: automatization , biomarkers , human ART , omics , time-lapse Abstract: Worldwide the routine IVF laboratory still relies on technology and instrumentation which is in principle the same as in the time when IVF started. However, the advances in instrumentation and micro-engineering as well as the increasing knowledge on oocyte and embryo biology will have an impact on how we will perform IVF in the near future. New laboratory techniques will enter the routine in assisted reproduction and lead to a shift in treatment possibilities. This overview summarizes some of the ongoing developments and tries to give a look into the next decade.
