This essay deals with thedifferent views held by german speakingimmigrants and travelers about germanimmigrants in Brazil at the end of the 19thcentury and early 20th.Considering the context of the rise and fallof German imperialism at the turn of thecentury up to the beginnings of the ThirdReich, we discuss questions about theconstruction of identities, nationalism,germanism and german-brasilianism.
