Territorios, organizaciones sociales y migraciones: Las experiencias de las tomas de tierras y los asentamientos de 1981 en Quilmes

The aim of this article is to study an experienceof land occupation and construction of urbansettlements, that took place during 1981 in the southernareas of Suburban Buenos Aires, considering whathappened there in the following years, in order to identifysome of the main features that characterize urban socialorganizations created in the eighties, especially inQuilmes, nerve center of the analyzed event. We willfocus specifically on the following aspects: the differentways of organizations of the occupation and settlements,the role of the Catholic Church (Base EcclesiasticalCommunities BEC in particular) and the place of themigration processes in the explanation of this event.
