This paper deals with the analysis ofevangelical women performances and theirrelationship between politics and local power in adiscrict of Baixada Fluminense in Rio de JaneiroState. We examine aspects of the simplisticdichotomy of public versus private spheres byrethinking "common places" of ethnographies aboutgender related to the notions of purity, danger,commitment, reputation, honor and prestige.
