MúSICA INDíGENA BRASILEIRA: FILTRAGENS E APROPRIA ES DO COLONIZADOR E DO MúSICO OCIDENTAL

This article, uniting historiographical, anthropologic and musical perspectives,intends to examine fundamental aspects of Brazilian indigenous music, including the socialdimension and the history of assimilation and restrictions imposed by the Western culture. It isintended, above all, to reflect on the inadequacy of approaches which have examined theindigenous practical music based on criteria of listening and annotations exclusively cementedon Western parameters. This text is an attempt to reflect the distortions that can arise from adislocation of a cultural production outside of its context.Este artigo – unindo as perspectivas historiográfica, antropológica e musicológica– busca examinar aspectos fundamentais da música indígena brasileira, particularmente a suadimens o social e a história de sua apropria o e restri o pela cultura ocidental. Busca-se,sobretudo, refletir sobre a inadequa o de abordagens que – até a primeira metade do séculoXX e em alguns casos persistindo ainda hoje – examinaram a prática musical indígena a partirde critérios de escuta e de anota o exclusivamente calcados nos parametros ocidentais. Otexto intenta refletir sobre as distor es que podem surgir com o deslocamento de umadeterminada produ o cultural para fora de seu contexto.
