REBANHOS EM ALDEIAS: INVESTIGANDO A INTRODU O DE ANIMAIS DOMESTICADOS E FORMAS DE CRIA O ANIMAL EM POVOS INDíGENAS NA AMAZ NIA (ROND NIA)

This paper discuss the introduction of European domestic animals in indigenousvillages in the Amazon, with particular stress on groups in Rondonia, specially the Karitiana, aTupi-Arikém-speaking people that lives in the north of that state. In what concerns the historyof Brazilian territorial conquest, marked by the ‘frentes pastoris’’ great narrative, and thepresent expansion – material and also ideological – of husbandry throughout Amazonia, thisarticle points to many questions about the position of these animals – above all cattle – inindigenous peoples’ symbolical and material universes. Suggests new investigativepossibilities, that inquires not only implemented experiences with animal husbandry inindigenous villages, but also desires and projects designed to future implementations.Este artigo discute a introdu o de animais domesticados de origem européia emaldeias indígenas na Amaz nia, com particular aten o aos grupos em Rond nia, em especialos Karitiana, povo de língua Tupi-Arikém que habita o norte daquele estado.
