La recuperación de la memoria en la serie de pinturas Dominó/Domino de Bibiana Suárez.Abstract: Bibiana Suárez, a Puerto Rican artist who lives and works in Chicago, Illinois, constructs her own Caribbean space , and her own Puerto Rican space in her 1998 series Domin / Domino. In this paper I will analyze Bibiana s use of opposites, her mocking/embrace of the colonizer/colonized dichotomies and her manipulation of culture in order to piece together what Arcadio Díaz Qui ones has called La memoria rota (The broken memory). From her exiled position Suárez plays Domin with her audience forcing them to read the domino pieces like one would read history , only it is her own construction, it is herstory . The Series becomes a voyage into the viewers own broken memories, and if one decides to play from either side of the linguistic pole Domin / Domino then one is compelled to question the perception of space in terms of gender as well as in terms of culture and most importantly in terms of memory
