Accommodating Community Users in an Authenticated Library Technology EnvironmentKeywords: community access , authentication , privacy , temporary users , hardware and software development , diy Abstract: This article documents the creation of an automated kiosk that allows users not affiliated with Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada to obtain temporary usernames and passwords for computer workstations in the library. Non-affiliated users provide certain forms of identification to automatically generate temporary accounts that comply with campus-wide security and privacy policies, as well as licensing agreements for electronic resources.
