THE INFLUENCE OF THE SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURE ANOMALIES AND TOPOGRAPHY IN TWO HEAVY RAINFALL EVENTS OVER SOUTHEAST BRAZILKeywords: heavy rainfall events , sea surface temperature , topography , southeast Brazil , Eta model. Abstract: With the help of the Eta regional model and the technique of “separation of factors” it was possible to verify the isolated effects and mutual interactions between the sea surface temperature anomalies and the regional orography for two heavy rainfall events. The joint effect of orography and sea surface temperature anomalies and isolated effect of the orography were important for the development of extreme precipitation events.
