Optimal Control of Electromagnetic Suspension Systems for Transportation ApplicationsKeywords: Consumed energy , Electromagnetic suspension , Optimal control , Ride comfort , Stabilization Abstract: In this paper an electromagnetic suspension control system is designed for transportation applications. The controlobjectives are to stabilize the suspension system and provide proper steady state and dynamic system performance as well as ride comfort. The consumed energy is also considered in the proposed method. For this purpose, optimal integral state feedback is employed. The electromagnetic suspension system under the proposed control method is then investigated through excessive simulations. The results prove the ability of the control system in providing proper system performanceagainst variation in load and system specifications despite the relative control simplicity
