PER UN APPROCCIO VARIETISTICO ALL’INSEGNAMENTO DELL’ITALIANO A STRANIERI

L’insegnamento della lingua italiana ha proposto per lungo tempo lo studio della lingua letteraria e della grammatica normativa, che davano l’idea di una lingua stabile, monolitica, invariata nel tempo, nello spazio e nelle diverse situazioni comunicative. Oggi, da alcuni anni, si è spostato il fuoco dell’attenzione da una grammatica prescrittiva ad una descrittiva, mentre l’approccio grammaticale si è arricchito di una prospettiva sociolinguistica, adatta a favorire l’acquisizione della lingua e delle sue varietà in relazione alle loro differenti funzioni, cercando di rispondere, anche in ambito scolastico, ai bisogni linguistici reali di chi si accinge ad affrontare lo studio dell’italiano, immerso nella realtà linguistica del nostro paese. In questa sede si esaminano la lingua italiana e le sue varietà (diatopiche, diafasiche diastratiche, diamesiche) in modo da fornire indicazioni sulla scelta e la selezione dei fenomeni da segnalare per un approccio varietistico che consenta allo straniero di diventare “padrone della nostra lingua”, in un percorso articolato, che tenga conto degli effettivi bisogni linguistico-comunicativi. Si cerca, inoltre, di dare alcune indicazioni didattiche su strumenti e metodi che prevedono l’utilizzazione e l’analisi di testi autentici. For a varietistic approach to the teaching of italian to foreigners For a long time, the teaching of Italian involved the study of literary language and normative grammar, suggesting it was a stable, monolithic, language, unchanging in time, space and in different communicative situations. In recent years, the focus has switched from prescriptive to descriptive grammar, while the grammar approach has been enriched by a sociolinguistic perspective. This has promoted functional language learning, in an attempt to respond to the real linguistic needs of Italian language learners immersed in the linguistic reality of our country. In this article Italian language and its varieties are examined (diatopic, diaphasic, diastratic, diamesic) so as furnish guidelines for the choice and screening of the phenomenon, to support a varietistic approach that leads foreigners to become “experts in Italian language”, always taking account of students’ real linguistic-communicative needs. A few didactic guidelines regarding tools and methods for the use and analysis of real texts are given.
