Abstract:

The total export of Turkey has increased in recentyears. The share of clothing industry in the totalexport of Turkey has also increased gradually.Therefore, the clothing industry has attracted a lotof attention of marketers in both academic andprofessional business life. Since the clothingindustry is considered as a promising industry,many approaches and strategies have beenproposed to increase competitive power of theindustry in international arena.The increase of trade in a boundaries world andChina threat has highlighted the importance ofclothing industry in the world and in Turkey.Therefore, market entry strategies have become animportant issue for Turkish clothing exporters. Themarket entry strategies are as important asdiscovering the needs of the market and alsoapplying marketing strategies. Market entrystrategy of a company could lead the futureattempts in a market.The aim of this study is to examine the foreignmarket entry strategies of Turkish clothing industryand to discuss the consequences of these strategiesfor the future of industry. The problems faced inentering new markets and deciding on market entrystrategies by the exporters is also discussed in thispaper. The focus group studies have been appliedin the industry to discuss the issues concerned inthe paper.
