Updated Molecular Diagnosis of Chronic Hepatitis CDOI: 10.6051/ j.issn.2224-3992.2012.01.155 Keywords: Laboratory diagnosis , Hepatitis C Abstract: The scope of this review allows an exhaustive analysis of updatedmolecular diagnosis of hepatitis C in endemic estimates representingexamples to illustrate the use of molecular techniques for theHCV diagnosis. Hepatitis C is an emerging infection that threatensfor economic and psychosocial disaster in estimated endemic areasworldwide. It is a global Human calamity requiring integrity of allresearchers' efforts with strong governmental aids. Findings of currentreview article focused on the utility of measuring HCV core antigenlevels in the clinical setting, as a substitution and/or conformationalfor measuring HCV RNA levels, especially in endemic areas withlow economics. Currently, molecular assays based RT PCR allowsthe monitoring and generation of PCR products simultaneous with theamplification process. Quantitative assessment of HCV RNA levels, via signal amplification and quantitative PCR, are valuable tools inthe clinical management of patients before, during and after therapy.Fortunately, the most promising approach is fully automated real-timePCR assays, which are faster, more sensitive than classical target amplificationtechniques and are not prone to carryover contamination.
