The Importance of National History Education on the Development of Identity

In the process of construction of nation-state form, history education is used widely in the world. To legitimize all actions, politicians and statesmen emphasized on continuity in the past. Globalization movement brings into question history education. Under the arguments it is proposed an education creates European identity, local identity, universial identity instead of national identity which is one of the most important aims of classical history education. This suggest causes a lot of problem in Turkey comparing with other countries. It is clear that this practice intends different aims.
