La universidad médica como fuente de creación de valores Medical university as a source of personal values creation

La revolución cubana ha sido una fuente inagotable de ideas en beneficio de la sociedad, donde sobresalen la educación y la salud como los sectores más favorecidos en este sentido. De ahí que la labor educacional y sanitaria no deben considerarse esferas aisladas, sino más bien constituirse en eslabón indestructible mediante el cual se puede, incluso instruir y educar en salud. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la importancia de la universidad médica como elemento fundamental en la creación de valores orientados al bienestar social desde épocas remotas hasta nuestros días. Para ello, se localizaron a través del motor de búsqueda Google fuentes de información que abarcaran temas como universidad y sociedad, historia de la medicina, estadísticas de salud mundiales y evaluación del desempe o de la docencia médica. The Cuban Revolution has been an undepleted source of ideas for the benefit of the society where education and health are the most favoured sectors in this regard. Hence, the educational and health work should not be considered as isolated spheres, rather an unbreakable link through which health education may be provided. The objective of this paper is to analyze the importance of the medical university as a fundamental element in the creation of values oriented to social benefit from ancient times up to the present. For this end, Google search tool served to locate data sources covering topics such as university and society, history of medicine, world health statistics and medical teaching performance assessment.
