Validation of Turkish Version of Bristol Female Lower Urinary Tract Symptom IndexDOI: 10.4328 Keywords: ncontinance , Female , Questionnaire Abstract: Aim: There are numerous questionnaires for evaluation of female incontinence. Bristol female lower urinary tract symptoms (BFLUTS) index evaluates the severity of incontinence and its impact on sexual function and quality of life. This study aimed to validate the Turkish version of BFLUTS index questionnaire. Material and Method: Fortynine female patients who applied to our outpatient clinic with incontinence were included in the study. BFLUTS questionnaire were filled by the patients 2 times with a six-week interval. The self-consistency and reliability of the test were evaluated by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and test retest correlation coefficients, respectively. Results: Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was calculated to be 0.931 for all the questions, indicating that the questions were consistent with each other. The correlation coefficient for the test at day 0 and 6 weeks was 0.821 (p<0.001). This result indicated that the questions were clearly understood by the patients, and the same or similar answers were given to the same questions at different times. Discussion: The current Turkish version of BFLUTS index questionnaire can be used in the urological daily practice as it is a valid and consistent tool for the evaluation of female urinary incontinence and its impacts on sexual function and quality of life.
