Intramuscular Hemangioma Of Mentalis Muscle:Case Report

Hemangiomas of skeletal muscle are extremely rare benign neoplasms. In the head and neckregion, intramuscular hemangiomas occur most frequently in the masseter and trapezius muscles.However, intramuscular hemangiomas (IMH) arising from the mentalis muscle are relativelyrare. Preoperative diagnosis of head and neck IMH is rendered difficult by its rarity andnonspecific clinical findings. Total excision of the hemangioma with a margin of normal muscleis recommended. In this report, a case of mentalis muscle hemangioma, which was surgicallyexcised by transoral approach and histopathologically confirmed the diagnosis of capillary-typeIMH, was presented and the clinical, histologic f ndings and treatment modalities are discussed.
