El síntoma: de la metáfora a la letra

Desde Freud sabemos que el síntoma comporta una pregunta y un mensaje. El abordaje lacaniano permite profundizar en esta estructura significante del síntoma para avanzar hacia una comprensión que privilegia el goce que este transporta. En un primer momento, el síntoma tiene un sentido, esto es, un significado reprimido que puede advenir; luego, el síntoma es metáfora, sustitución significante. Sin embargo, cuando el acento recae sobre el registro de lo real, es decir, en la vertiente de goce del síntoma, aparece referido a la letra. Esto último abre, como horizonte ineludible de la reflexión, la cuestión de lo femenino en el síntoma. Donc, en un premier temps le sympt me est pourvu d’un sens, c’est-àdire, d’une signification refoulée qui peut bien advenir ; après, le sympt me est métaphore, ce qui veut dire substitution signifiante. Pourtant, lorsque l’accent est mis sur le registre du réel, au versant de jouissance du sympt me, celui-ci est mis en rapport avec la lettre, ce qui ouvre sur la question, obligé, du féminin dans le sympt me. The symptom: from metaphor to letter We have known since Freud that a symptom brings with it a question and a message. The Lacanian approach studies a symptom’s signifier structure in depth, and then advances towards an understanding that privileges the jouissance this symptom transmits. At first, the symptom has meaning, that is, a repressed significance that can arise; later, the symptom is a metaphor, a signifier substitution. Nevertheless, when the stress falls on the register of the real, namely, on the aspect of one’s jouissance of their symptom, it appears as referred to the letter. This raises, as an unavoidable horizon of reflection, the question of the feminine in the symptom.
