THE IMPACT OF STEM CELLS ON TISSUE ENGINEERING AND CRANIOFACIAL DEFECTSAbstract: Stem cells being the greatest discovery of the 20th century have made itself the hottest area in the iological science. Recent researches use multipotent (and even the pluripotent) differentiation capacity of stem and progenitor cell population for regeneration and curing of incurable diseases. Stem cell plays an immense role in dentistry as it is used to repair bone defects and in facial reconstruction using tissue engineering. Currently, stem cell applications in clinical studies are undertaken in several institutes all over the world with a huge potential in curing diseases for which no cure is available for the patient. The regenerative capability of stem cell is very little understood, and if we can explore the same thoroughly we can be able to create replacement teeth. Thus, making regenerative medicine an indispensable part of any and every healthcare set up. Stem cells offer the opportunity to provide revolutionary treatments for many disease onditions. These characteristics underpin its emergence as a global leader in the exciting field of regenerative medicine and in understanding human
