Os inventários, como fontes para a história da arte e do mobiliário, foram empregados em estudos histórico-artísticos desde o século XIX. Descri es objetivas deixaram transparecer, aos leitores atentos, a compreens o dos objetos artísticos em seu sentido simbólico. Este texto interpreta os inventários da Sé de Mariana (1749 – 1870), averiguando os significados atribuídos às pe as inventariadas.The inventory, as source to the history of art and to the furniture history, had been employed in studies since the 19th century. Objective descriptions, it permits to see, to the attentive lector, the comprehension of the artistic object in its symbolic meaning. This text interprets the inventories of the Mariana’s Cathedral (1749-1870), and research the meanings attributed to the pieces described.
