Alois Riegl and pure visibility: revisiting the work of an art historian from late 19th Century ///// Alois Riegl e a visibilidade pura: revisitando a obra de um historiador da arte de fins do século XIX

Este artigo busca analisar a obra e abordagem de um dos mais importantes historiadores da Arte de fins do século XIX e princípios do início do século XX: Alois Riegl (1858-1905). O autor é examinado, a princípio, no ambito e contexto da corrente historiográfica de análise da arte a que pertencia: a escola de Viena de Historiografia da Arte. Esta corrente, cujas bases teóricas ficaram conhecidas como “Teoria da Visibilidade Pura”, será o ponto de partida da análise, antes de adentrarmos a especificidade da obra de Alois Riegl. ///// This article intends to analyze the work and the perspective of one of most important Art Historians of the end of XIX century and principles of XX century: Alois Riegl (1858-1905). The author is examined, in the first moment, in the ambit and context of the historiography current of analyses of Arte to which one he belonged: the Vienna School of Art History. This current, which theory bases are knew as “Theory of the Pure Visibility”, will be de apprehension object of the first part of the article, before the most specifically analysis of the work of Alois Riegl
