O presente artigo vem contribuir na reflex o sobre as representa es possíveis da cidade, no caso Salvador, através da integra o das artes durante a implanta o da arquitetura moderna na capital baiana, entre as décadas de 1950 a 1970 e as rela es que permearam a sua produ o e apreens o, pensando aqui na análise do discurso visual elaborado por esta prática, considerando o contexto histórico-social e as rela es de poder e de for a que regiram a concretiza o de um modelo artístico supostamente moderno, que por sua vez, buscou uma formata o e consolida o de uma identidade nacional/regional/baiana para se auto-afirmar. Tomaremos como exemplo, a parceria estabelecida entre os arquitetos modernos e o artista plástico Carybé, artista com maior número de obras integradas às constru es desse período,ao mesmo tempo em que artistas t o importantes como Rubem Valentim foram completamente negligenciados. ///// This paper is to contribute to the reflection on the possible representations of the city, where Salvador, through the integration of the arts during the deployment of modern architecture in Salvador, between the decades from 1950’ tod 1970’ and the relations that permeated their production and understanding, thinking here in the analysis of visual discourse produced by this practice, considering the historical and social context and power relations that led the implementation of a model supposedly artistic modern, which in turn, sought a formatting and consolidation of national identity / local / Bahia to assert itself. We will take as an example, the partnership established between modern architects and artist Carybé, artist with most number of works incorporated into the construction of this period, at the same time that artists as important as Rubem Valentim was completely neglected.
