PROCESS DEVELOPMENT AND SCALE-UP OF FLUID-BED GRANULATION PROCESS

Fluid-bed granulation studies were conducted to better understand the complexity of the process. Recently emerging innovative technologies are being developed to improve the Fluid-bed granulation process, process control and process robustness. In many cases the process development, scale-up and critical to quality of fluid bed granulation could be challenging and somewhat formulation-dependent. Granulation process are applied to improve flowability, improve compressibility, improve uniformity, improve wettability, densification and easier to disperse or transfer. Proper selection of equipment design, operating conditions and suitable excipients, Fluid-bed granulation technology can be scaled-up from the laboratory to commercial production successfully.
