El actor naturalista: sobre Los episodios reveladores de Fran ois Delsarte

This article intends to develop the issue concerning the fact that, in a specific experience of body, at the end of nineteenth century, the foundation of technical training in performing arts requires an attitude of scientific observation, which is captured in the studies on the expression of passions and gives rise to a semiotics or a grammar of gesture, under different approaches. To do that, it focuses on the early works of Fran ois Delsarte, actor, singer, and speaker, considered a predecessor of Modern dance in twentieth century (Ted Shawn, Ruth Saint-Denis, Rudolf von Laban, Mary Wigman).
