La apreciación musical en edades juveniles: territorios, identidad y sentidoKeywords: Music Appreciation , Youth Culture , Sociocultural Inclusion , Informal Learning , Music at School , Meaningful Learning Abstract: This paper presents a reflection regarding the importance of allowing the entrance of youth cultural territories and musical aesthetics into the music-appreciation classroom as a pedagogic strategy for constructing meaning, sense and identity. The impact of music understood as a living experience upon the development of youth identity is described. Further on, Lucy Green′s proposal of integrating elements of informal learning into the music classroom is presented, linked to the idea of developing critical musicality upon students as an understanding of particularities, rules and specific capitals of the different fields in which music is produced. Keith Swanwick′s concept of meeting as a pedagogic practice of autonomy and inclusion of individual options is presented. Finally, some concrete projects developed inside the music appreciation course of Pontificia Universidad Javeriana’s youth program are described.
