We present the publication and annotated study of a treatise on nobility written about 1621 by Juan Melio de Sande, an councillor from A Coru a. We emphasise the characteristics common to these kinds of texts and we try to clarify the author’s motives. In his format, argument, and authorities referred to, he could only follow the most reputable specialists on the subject of genealogy at that time. Presentamos la publicación y el estudio anotado de un tratado de nobleza redactado hacia 1621 por el regidor de A Coru a Juan Melio de Sande. Hacemos hincapié en las características comunes a este tipo de textos e intentamos dilucidar las motivaciones de su autor. En su formato, argumentación y autoridades empleadas no hace sino seguir a los más reputados especialistas en materia nobiliaria de su tiempo.
